About

We are 21 square miles of breathtaking beauty, rich cultures, and a touch of mystery. As the oldest British Overseas Territory, Bermuda was first settled in 1609 when the Sea Venture, a British vessel on a rescue mission to Jamestown, Virginia, ran aground here. Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, just 700 nautical miles off the coast of North Carolina, our island is home to 65,000 residents. English is our official language, and the Bermuda Dollar, on par with the U.S. dollar, is our currency.
