About
Forteiland IJmuiden is located in the mouth of the North Sea Canal, and is part of the Stelling van Amsterdam. This Fort Island was built around 1885 as a major forward defense post of the gateway to Amsterdam. The beautiful, half underground fort is the largest of the Theorem and a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the Second World War the Fort Island was part of the Atlantic Wall, which explains the presence of the later built bunkers. The inspiring Forteiland is can be rented for parties, corporate events, conferences, festivals, film and photography.
