Suwa city is located in the central part of Nagano prefecture and looks out onto the tranquil and abundant water of Suwa Lake. Highly therapeutic hot springs can be found along the shore of the lake, and the town has been known from long ago as "Kamisuwa Onsen", one of the most prominent hot spring village in Japan.
